Lana Del Rey-inspired Coquette Bow Editorial Photoshoot

| “Hey, Siri: Play ‘Let the Light In’ by Lana Del Rey on Spotify”

If you’re constantly scrolling on TikTok or Instagram, chances are that you’ve seen that ‘coquette girly/ bow’ trend in some form or another. If you haven’t, it’s basically a trend where you put a bow (or maybe a ton of bows) on something and you play Let The Light In by Lana Del Rey and BAM: you’ve got coquette, soft girly, realness 😂

Naturally, being in the wedding industry, I am not exempt from having seen my fair share of these Reels and TikToks. Still, I have been itching to create something soft and girly and filled with bows for quite some time. And, I swear, that my creative partner-in-crime, Monique (from Winston Marie Cakes), and I are so weirdly in tune because around the time I wanted to start putting together a mood board for something like this, she messaged me and said

| I want to do a bow cake styled shoot”.

At the time, I was mentally at a yellow light for this styled shoot (it was but a seed in my mind) but as soon as I read her message, it’s like the light turned green and I started going HAM on Pinterest and Canva putting together a mood board for us.

After sharing many back-and-forth Instagram posts with each other, creating the inevitable Pinterest board, and a few mood board concepts, this is what we landed on:

I created two mood boards and ultimately it was between this beautiful, soft, baby blue and silver/ grey color palette or the exact opposite: a super pink and red, flirty, monochromatic palette. Baby blue is my favorite color so I was pretty stoked when Monique weighed in and said we should go with blue as pink has been a bit overdone.

And so, there was our concept. Monique got to work recruiting some fellow Vegas vendors to help us execute this vision. She also recruited a good friend to be the primary (and only) model!

I got to work on putting together all of our props and items that would go into the styling for this project (for those curious, I also do styling and design under Loved Til Death Collective!).

I also wanted to fine tune what kind of shoot this would be because naturally, Monique and I are both super wrapped in the wedding industry but I wanted this to have more of an editorial direction (aka, no groom and more high fashion vibes!) instead of a wedding vibe.

| Ultimately, it came out to be a perfect combination of wedding meets Marie Antoinette meets coquette-girl REALNESS!

Fun fact: soon after our shoot, the new SKIMS campaign dropped and what would you know: it was Lana Del Rey in Baby Blue with a velvet blue heart backdrop!

Here are some sneak peeks of the magic that WE created 🖤✨
